You calculate the savings from automation by multiplying the time staff spend on manual work each week by the number of working weeks per year and the cost per hour, and taking the share that can actually be automated. Not every process can be fully automated: exceptions, checks and customer contact often remain human work. That is why this calculator uses a percentage. Bear in mind too that automation prevents errors and shortens lead times; that often adds value but is harder to express in money.
